Problems viewing amazon's website

I have not been able to view amazon's website for the past 3 months.  I have installed no new software - only renewed McAfee Security e subscrption - but have been having problems before this.  I have done the necessary cleaning up of web cache files and temporary folders.  I have run the spyware and virus programs.  The Amazon website only loads the top bar/menu and the rest does not appear.  The status indicator says it is "done" loading but nothing else shows.  Eventually the page times out and states I should refresh the page (which doesn't work).  Incidently, Borders.com does work, but Babies R Us doesn't load.  I also have the same problem viewing Target.com.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Have you tried a different browser? While on line go to Google and type Mozilla Firefox and download and install it. You can transfer all your favorites etc from IE. I know some advisors here don't like recommending another application to fix a problem. I only offer this a way to test your ability to use Amazon.com. This is the browser I use instead of Windows IE as it is much more secure against hackers, and attacks from spyware and malware. So shoot me..

    Thanks for your idea - I just downloaded and tried firefox but get the same results.  Any other thoughts?

    I would suggest you follow the instructions here and see if amazon.com is listed as a blocked site. You can remove it, but make sure you a text editor only as this file must be saved a plain text file. Wordpad will work fine, just click start run and then wordpad. Then just drill your way to the Host file.

    Hope some if these ideas help, as looks somehow your system had amazon.com blocked from being accessed.

    Open IE
    Click Tools
    Click Internet Options
    Click Security
    Click on The Restricted Icon
    If Amazon.com Is there remove it
    If not:
    Click on Trusted Sites
    Add Amazon.com there and see what happens.

    In Mozilla FireFox
    Click Tools
    Click Options
    Click Privacy
    Click Allowed Sites
    Add Amazon.com

    You may have to close and restart the browsers for these settings to take effect.
