Is it a must that the AGP card be removed before installing memory? I have been trying to get it out for an hour and I cannot remove it for the life of me.

I have  a Dell Dimension 4400 and the green card clip lever is not releasing the card.

I wanted to just install the memory without taking the card out but I thought that I would check here first because I'm sure that there is a reason that they tell you to remove it first.
