I often use hibernate on my desktop.

When I return from hibernate and try to use Internet Explorer I receive an error that it 'Cannot find server. The page cannot be displayed'. In other words, it cannot find the website. If I use Outlook, I find that I cannot send and receive emails. Pressing 'refresh' in IE or 'send/receive' in Outlook does not help.

What I have found is that by pinging the IP address of my DNS server seems to correct this, and that when I then press 'refresh' in Internet Explorer it works.

Could anyone give advice as to why this happens? I don't want to have to ping each time I return from hibernation to re-establish my Internet link.
