Still have not downloaded SP2

I too feel leery about downloading SP2 and so still have not done so.  However, I just ordered a free CD from Microsoft which has the SP2 on it.  I might install it when I get it and see what happens!:smileysurprised:

Like others, I had concerns about downloading and installing SP2.  Then about two weeks ago I decided to give it a shot and I am pleased to report that everything has been working perfectly since then.  I did check for viruses and ran Spybot and AdAware first.  The download and installation was absolutely error-free, though I wouldn't recommend download installation unless you have a cable or dsl modem.  I like the features in the Security Center and the pop-up preventer is excellent.  Think we all have to realize that in support forums like this generally you only see the problems people are having, not all the successes that most probably experience.

I wrote a previous message concerning the SP2 update. I still have not recieved any replies on it, but I thought I would share my experience with it since I saw the replies that you got. I, too, got the CD from MS and installed it from the CD. In addition, I ran adawared like MS suggested and it checked okay. I installed SP2 on two machines: an IBM and a Dell 4600 Dimension. In both cases the machine ran okay and no issues but with the Dell machine it seems to have lost the links to the Dell support and other Dell related issues. It is a non-critical issue but a nuisance that you would think Dell could fix. From reading other posts I have concluded that the link issue lies with Dell and not with MS. SP2 seems to be working as it should.
