System Restore repeated fails - MediaCenter 2005

Did you change out any hard drives, or delete any hidden files or folders?

What's your system info? Maybe someone can help.

yes i have,i was told to go to restore check to tune off reboot then go back and un check box to tune on restore that will do it .i was told it was a corupted file some thing like that and it worked ,when you aredo it go and try a system restore if it worked make a new restore point.

I haven't removed any hardware. I have only installed a NetGear Firewire card, but that has worked fine for days before this problem began.

I had worked with DELL tech support over the weekend, to try to resolve a "Critical Process Error" (Code 3) with Windows MediaCenter 2005 that started when I first began using the program. DELL support has told me the problem is due to incompatibility with McAfee SecurityCenter, so they had me completely remove McAfee programs.

Now I sit here on the phone waiting on "hold" with DELL support; no virus protection software installed; and a new computer that can't restore itself...Not a great feeling for my first DELL computer experience.

did you ever get an answer? I have the same problems for XP Pro.
