Dell Dimension 4100 and Dell Dimension XPS R450

Window 2000 SP4, ZoneAlarm, AVG AntiVirus

 

After installing iTunes, ran fine but it wouldn't boot up after shutdown. All I got was "Windows 2000 Professional Build on NT Technology" screen. The starting up status bar below showed about halfway and stayed there forever.

 

I had this problem a few months back on one of my computers after I installed iTunes  but I wasn't sure iTunes was the culprit. I had to painfully re-install Windows 2000 to bring it back. Last week, my kid installed iTunes again on both of my computers. They both died after shutdown. I am now positive iTunes is the problem.

 

How do I fix the problem without re-installing the operating system? I tried Safe Mode boot up and Repair Console. Neither worked.

 

Can I safely install iTunes in the future?

 

Please help.
