I have a Dimension 4400 which, until recently, was happy to download and install updates to Windows XP. About a week ago, the latest updates downloaded, and I clicked the bubble to install them, but, after they had installed apparently successfully, I got the error message:

"The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. The software will not be installed. Contact your system administrator."

Shortly after closing the error-message window, the updates started to download again, and this procedure has repeated itself five or six times over the past few days. I've tried downloading the updates manually, but with the same result.

It seems a bit odd that Microsoft is trying to download updates which haven't passed its Windows Logo testing and, quite frankly, this is all Greek to me. Any ideas, please? If it helps, I have Norton Internet Security, Spybot and Ad-aware 6.0 installed; could any of those be causing the problem?
