    hi,

couldn't believe your post when I read it. I am having the exact same problem with trying to reinstall xp. I also get to the same stage in the process and the install would go no further. 33 mins and installing devices. I have left my pc on all night but nothing has progressed. Can anyone help?

Are both of you disconnecting all external devices except mouse, monitor, and keyboard from the computer prior to starting the reinstallation? If not, that may be causing the problem. See this.

    hi denny,

yes, I unattached all devices except the monitor, mouse and key board. I have restarted a number of times and still no change. I am not at all technically minded and this problem is causing me a big headache and I am having to use my son's PC to use these forums.

any other advice/guidance you could give would be a great help.

    thanks in advance
