Dell Data Assistant

On your old PC


Download and install Dell Data Assistant.

• Run Dell Data Assistant, which will perform the required prechecks on your old PC and notify you if any of the prechecks are not met.
• Click Let’s get started to connect both the old and the new PCs.

On your new PC

    Open Dell SupportAssist

    Enter SupportAssist in the Search box on the Windows taskbar.

    Click: SupportAssist from the list of results

    Note: If the search does not return SupportAssist in the results list, it is not installed on your PC. For information on how to install SupportAssist, see the latest version of SupportAssist for Home PCs User's Guide on the SupportAssist for Home PCs documentation page.

    Click: Go now

    Under Dell Migrate can help you copy your files and settings to your new PC, and securely erase data from your old one (lower left of SupportAssist window).

    Click: Let’s get started

From this point, follow the instructions on the screens for both the old PC and the new PC. For more detailed information about the migration process, see Start Migrate in the Dell Migrate User’s Guide.
