PowerStore, the future of storage is now!

In this video Kurt Renard, Senior Presales Solutions Architect, and Laurent Van Hoorebeke, Senior Presales Solutions Architect, show us the newest member of the Dell Technologies storage family: PowerStore.

“This device is built for the data-area coming up”, Kurt explains. “PowerStore actually focusses on three different areas – being data-centric, intelligent and adaptable.”

PowerStore is able to host both traditional and modern storage workloads on the same system.

Laurent makes clear how this solution meets the needs of datacentric environments: “Looking at the outside of the chassis, we can notice that the system focusses on data and performance.”

PowerStore provides 25 drive slots, to either house NVMe – or SCM flash drives. Four of them are reserved for NVRAM cache drives  “This enables the chassis for an ultrafast processing power in memory”, Laurent states.

At the back of the chassis, we find two end to end active/active NVMe controllers or nodes. “They can support any type of workload. From virtualized applications, to databases or the newer containerized workloads.”

And did you know that PowerStore can support also different types of connectivity? From the well-known block protocols like fiber channel or iSCSI, file protocols like NFS or SMB, up to the all-new NVMe-over-Fabric  protocol.

It’s all about scaling up and scaling out!

With PowerStore “we scale up by adding more drives and scale out by adding more nodes into the same cluster.”

PowerStore can be deployed in minutes. “The location of the device can be an edge location, into your datacenter, or even in a hybrid cloud setup.”

Modular design

Kurt makes clear that this solution is truly unique in the market by being an adaptable & automated storage. This also means that features running on it can be independently deployed from one another, which makes sure we can move away from unnecessary downtimes for your business.

PowerStore is designed for intelligence

It automates application development of storage workflows through integration with VMWare vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and the leading DevOps and open management Frameworks like Ansible, Kubernetes, etc

Kurt: “Administrators can deploy new resources in seconds, eliminating the manual steps required to provision storage resources.” The end goal is making administrators spend 99% less time at administrating their storage platform.
