In this video, we show you how to install and remove the VROC key. These instructions are the same for both premium and standard versions of the VROC key. Before installing or removing the VROC key, sread through and follow the safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety.
For more information about safety guidelines, see the Precision 5860 Tower Service Manual at: dell.com/support. Before you begin, turn off the computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals on your computer. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer.
To begin, if the release latch is set to the lock position, use a Phillips screwdriver to turn the latch to the unlocked position, then pull the release latch to release the side cover from the computer. Open the cover at an angle and lift the cover away from the chassis. Next, lay the computer on its right side.
Carefully remove the VROC key from the anesthetic bag it came in. Now, let's install the VROC key. To begin, locate the VROC key connector on the system board. Then align the VROC key with the connector and press to insert the VROC key into its connector. Now, the VROC key installation process is complete.
To remove the VROC key, hold the VROC key holder to remove it from its connector on the system board. Lift the computer back into position. To close a side cover, align the tabs on the side cover with the slots on the chassis, then move it inwards until it clicks into place.
To set the side panel latch to the lock position, use a Phillips screwdriver to turn the latch to the lock position. You can now connect all the peripherals and press the power button to power on the computer.
