Did you ever hear the one, you can tune a PC but you can't tune a fish? Of course not because until now PC Tune-Up wasn't available. This new service tool helps keep your computer system running in top shape.
PC Tune-Up's download is rather small. You can also get it at factory when you purchase your system with your operating system. What it does is it allows you to schedule routine maintenance on your system. Some of these things that we would, any of us, miss.
Such as clearing out your temporary Internet files, your temporary folder, clearing out cookies. Making sure that your live updates are engaged, making sure your antivirus suite or application is up to date, not expired, things of that manner. There's quite a list of things that PC Tune-Up does.
There's a portion of it that is automated. You can run some of this manually if you want to look at what kind of programs are running in the background, your system's starting to slow down it can help with system performance. At start-up it takes a long time before you get to your desktop.
It can allow you access to things such as a tool such as MS config where you can look through the processes and the applications that are running that are absorbing those resources. In scheduling PC Tune-Up you can do this at a time when you're not using your system. However, if you use your system on a regular basis or even if it's a low end server you're running, the amount of resources it uses is very, very limited.
This new service extends the reach of Dell Connect, a remote diagnostics tool used by technicians to fix hardware problems under warranty. How is the Tune-Up any different than antivirus updates and anything else out there? You want to have these types of maintenance processes take place like temporary Internet files and temp folders and things of that manner because it frees up data space and where is it that spyware and viruses tend to hit your system first, cookies folder temporary Internet folder things like that.
That's where a lot of those files will attack your system or start. You want something to continuously go through and clean it out. PC Tune-Up and the automated portion of PC Tune-Up can be scheduled to do just that. Let's say you're having a problem with your computer and you need to call in and talk to a Dell technician.
