There are two possible avenues to understand if one of the common issues for space usage inside /ddvar is being encountered. the first is via the Command Line Interface, the second is via the PowerProtect Data Domain System Manager Interface which is also known as the Graphical User Interface.
We shall explore the Command Line Interface avenue first. Log into the system as a user with Sysadmin privileges. To view the /ddvar usage the „filesys show space“ command can be used. The highlighted line indicates the space usage figures for the /ddvar file system. To list the Support Bundles stored in /ddvar, the „support bundle list“ command can be used. To list the Upgrade Packages stored in in /ddvar, the „system package list“ command can be used.
To show the current CIFS loglevel, the „CIFS option show all“ command can be used. The highlighted line indicates the current CIFS loglevel. Moving on to our next Avenue, which is to perform the exact same points we just covered, but from the PowerProtect Data Domain System Manager Interface perspective. Log in to the System Manager as a user with Sysadmin privileges. To view the /ddvar usage, select the „File System“ option under the „Data Management“ menu.

The next part is to demonstrate how to delete Support Bundles, delete Upgrade Packages, set or reset the CIFS loglevel back to its default level of 1. Again we will be covering all of these topics from both a Command Line and PowerProtect Data Domain System Manager perspective. Firstly the Command Line. Log into the system as a user with Sysadmin privileges. The command „support bundle delete“ is used to delete a Support Bundle. It expects the final argument to be the name of a Support Bundle obtained from the “support bundle list“ command.
The command „system package delete” is used to delete an Upgrade Package. It expects the final argument to be the name of an Upgrade Package, that was obtained from the „system package list“ command. the default CIFS Loglevel is 1. To set or reset CIFS Loglevel, either of the two following commands can be used. „CIFS option set loglevel 1“ „CIFS option reset loglevel“ Now on to the PowerProtect Data Domain System Manager.
These three tasks are performed from the same menus that we visited earlier. As a reminder, log in to the System Manager as a user with Sysadmin privileges. To list the Support Bundle stored in /ddvar, first select the „Support“ option under the „Maintenance“ menu. Then select the „Support Bundles“ tab. Inside this tab, select the Support Bundle to be deleted and press the „Delete“ button. A confirmation popup box will appear.
To list the Upgrade Packages stored in /ddvar, select the „System“ option under the „Maintenance“ menu. Select the Upgrade Package to be deleted and press the „REMOVE UPGRADE PACKAGE“ button. The confirmation popup box will appear. To show the current CIFS Loglevel select the „CIFS” option under the „Protocols“ menu. To modify the loglevel, select the „Configure“ link under the „Options“ tab. A popup box will now be displayed. Select the drop-down next to the Log Level field and change the value to 1. Then select the „Save“ button. Alternatively, if a curved arrow appears next to the value field, this can be used to reset the loglevel to its default.
