For more information about safety guidelines, see the C6615 Service Manual at: Dell.com/Support.
In order to remove the PIB you must first remove the air shroud. To remove the air shroud, press the clip and lift it. To remove a heatsink and CPU, first loosen the four captive screws. Then lift the heatsink module away from the system. Next loosen the Socket Actuation Mechansim, or SAM, screws starting with 3 and ending with 1. Lift the blue latches to release the processor socket rail frame. Holding the handle on the carrier frame, slide the tray out.
To install the heatsink and CPU, slide the processor tray into the carrier frame. Press down on the blue latches until they lock into place. Then secure the SAM by tightening the screws in order starting with 1. Next apply a thin spiral of thermal grease to the heatsink. Then place the heatsink on the CPU and tighten the four captive screws.
To install the air shroud, insert the hook into the slot on the chassis then lower the air shroud until the clip locks in place. For more information or support visit Dell.com/Support.
