When attempting to generate a CSR in PowerFlex Manager, users receive the error message: "Certificate related Job failed because of internal error."

The inability to generate a CSR prevents the registration of custom-signed certificates, which may be necessary for securing communications and ensuring compliance with organisational security policies. This can lead to operational disruptions and potential security vulnerabilities.

Cause

The root cause of this issue is the manual change of the MVM password without updating the corresponding password secret in the platform-manager component. This mismatch leads to authentication failures during the CSR generation process, resulting in the error message.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, update the password secret in the platform-manager component to match the new MVM password. An easy approach, depending on the PFxM version, can be achieved by using the following method:

  1. Navigate to PFxM UI
  2. Go to Settings > Backup

    update password
