Dell Networking: Sonic OS 4.4.0 Introduces LACP Individual Mode.

Zusammenfassung: Dynamic Port-Channel member ports that do not receive the LACPDUs from a peer LAG device are marked LACP inactive and do not carry any network traffic. However in certain scenarios, individual inactive LACP ports are still required to carry network traffic {both transmit and receive}. To allow inactive LACP ports to automatically transition into LACP ports that can carry network traffic, enable lacp individual on the Port-Channel. ...

Weisungen

With LACP individual mode enabled on the Port-Channel, inactive LACP ports are referred to as individual ports.

Individual ports inherit the dynamic properties of the LACP-enabled Port-Channel, allowing network traffic to flow through them.

LACP individual ports inherit VLAN properties, such as VLAN membership and VLAN tagging, from the Port-Channel configuration.

LACP Individual Restrictions:

  • LACP Individual can only be configured by admin and secadmin roles.
  • LACP Individual applies only to dynamic port channels in Active mode.
  • LACP Individual ports do not inherit STP, L3, and QoS configurations from the parent Port-Channel.

Enable LACP individual:

Sonic(config)# interface PortChannel 100 mode active
Sonic(config-if-po100)# lacp individual

Sonic(config-if-po100)# show configuration
!
interface PortChannel100 mode active
 lacp individual
 no shutdown

Disable LACP indivdual:

Sonic(config)# interface PortChannel 100 mode active
Sonic(config-if-po100)# no lacp individual

Sonic(config-if-po100)# show configuration
!
interface PortChannel100 mode active
 no shutdown

Configure a timeout for LACP individual mode:

Sonic(config)# interface PortChannel 100 mode active
Sonic(config-if-po100)# lacp individual
Sonic(config-if-po100)# lacp individual timeout 60

Sonic(config-if-po100)# show configuration
!
interface PortChannel100 mode active
 lacp individual
 lacp individual timeout 60
 no shutdown

Default: 3seconds
Range: 3 - 90seconds

Remove the configured LACP individual timeout and return to default timeout value:

Sonic(config)# interface PortChannel 100 mode active

Sonic(config-if-po100)# show configuration
!
interface PortChannel100 mode active
 lacp individual
 lacp individual timeout 60
 no shutdown

Sonic(config-if-po100)# no lacp individual timeout

Sonic(config-if-po100)# show configuration
!
interface PortChannel100 mode active
 lacp individual
 no shutdown

View LACP individual status:

Sonic# show interface PortChannel 100 | grep individual
LACP individual: Enabled
LACP individual timeout in seconds: 3

Note:

  • If a Port-Channel member port comes up {link UP} and does not receive an LACPDU for the configured LACP individual timeout period, the port transitions to individual LACP mode.
  • If a Port-Channel member port, which is LACP active, receives no LACPDU for the LACP timeout plus the configured LACP individual timeout period, the port transitions to LACP individual mode.
