Symptoms

Login fails with an error message:

The logged in user is not authorized to access Unisphere.

Cause

In order to be more compliant with established RFC2307 schema, LDAP authentication has now been made case sensitive as of Unity OE 5.1. This may cause certain customer’s LDAP user authentications into Unisphere to fail after upgrading if the case of the LDAP user stored in LDAPCache is not a match to how it appears in Active Directory.

Prior to 5.1, Unisphere's LDAPCache was not case sensitive, so a user with the incorrect case could still log in.  Now that LDAP authentication is case sensitive, the incorrect entry in LDAPCache is preventing valid logins. Once an incorrect entry is added to LDAPCache, using the same name but with a different case will result in Unity querying LDAP with the cached data rather than what was entered.

Resolution

Fix:
A permanent fix is in progress.  Please watch this Knowledgebase article for more details.  The fix will check the name before it is stored in LDAPCache.  If it does not match, it will result in a failure.

Workaround:
Close the browser and delete cookies in order to clear out the LDAPCache entries. Log back in to Unisphere using the username with a case that is an exact match for what is in LDAP.
