API Timeout Error
Calling the primary storage provision API rest/vxm/v1/system/primary-storage may result in a 504 gateway timeout error.

Cause
Extended VM Migration Duration
When the primary storage provision API is invoked, virtual machines such as the VxRail manager and the internal vCenter are migrated to the external storage.
Network Constraints
In limited network environments the migration task can take significantly longer than usual, causing the API request to exceed its timeout window.
- Default timeout before VxRail 8.0.210: 10 minutes
- Increased timeout from VxRail 8.0.210: 60 minutes

Resolution Steps

After triggering the primary storage provision API, a virtual machine relocation task starts. Monitor the task progress in the vCenter UI.
