Symptoms

Changing the cooling of an Alienware Aurora R16 may affect setting up system lighting in Alienware Command Center (AWCC). If the cooling has changed from air cooling to liquid cooling, or liquid cooling to air cooling, the system lighting can be affected. After the change of the cooling system, when setting up the system light in Alienware Command Center, the system light flickers.

Affected Platforms:

  • Alienware Aurora R16

Affected Software:

  • Alienware Command Center

Cause

Alienware Command Center records the scripting of the previous cooling configuration. After cooling system changes, Alienware Command Center sends redundant commands to the electric light control (ELC) firmware. The redundant commands cause system light flickering when configuring system light color adjustments in Alienware Command Center.

Resolution

  1. Uninstall the current Alienware Command Center.
  2. Install Alienware Command Center version 6.0.307.0.
  3. Install Alienware Command Center version 6.0.330.0 or later to update the application.
