Dell Encryption Enterprise Media (formerly Dell Data Protection | Encryption External Media Edition) helps provide a simple, flexible, comprehensive, and automatic data protection solution. It can block or restrict access to certain ports, or define and enforce encryption policies for any external media device connecting to a laptop or desktop running a supported operating system. It is available either as a stand-alone offering or is included with Dell Security Management Server (formerly Dell Data Protection | Enterprise Edition) that includes software-based Data Centric Encryption and hardware-based Full Volume Encryption.

Dell Encryption Enterprise Media applies to all removable storage devices on USB, FireWire, Compact Flash (CF), and Secure Digital (SD) busses, even if Windows designates them as something other than removable storage.
