Symptoms

The following errors appear when attempting scheduled backups:

Error: 'nsrexecd SYSTEM warning Unable to spawn command 'savefs' on behalf of BKPSERVER: Cannot run savefs: No error'

Error: 'savegrp: CLIENT:savefs unexpectedly exited.' Error: 'Cannot run savefs: No error'

Cause

This is a permissions issue.

Resolution

This is a known issue for clients running NetWorker version 8.2.3.2 or earlier versions. 
Install the latest NetWorker version 8.2.3.x or 9.x to address this issue.
