Instructions

This video is a great tool to augment the existing Database App agent installation guide, but is not intended to be a replacement for it.
  1. Log into the Data Domain system and issue the following command to ensure that DD Boost is enabled on the system.
 ddboost status
  1. Verify that the previously created Storage Unit is in a Read/Write status:
ddboost storage-unit show
  1. Unzip the previously download app agent software:
gunzip dbappagent30_linux_x86_64.tar.gz
  1. Extract the software from the tar ball:
tar -xvf dbappagent30_linux_x86_64.tar
  1. Using the native OS installer rpm, install the extracted software:
rpm -ivh emcdbappagent-3.0.0-1.x86_64.rpm
  1. Generate the app agent lockbox using the command
/opt/ddbda/bin/ddbmadmin -L
  1. Using your preferred text editor modify the /opt/ddbda/config/oracle_ddbda.cfg file and update the required fields. i.e.
DDBOOST_USER
DEVICE_HOST
DEVICE_PATH
  1. Register the Data Domain information into the lockbox:
/opt/ddbda/bin/ddbmadmin -P -z  /opt/ddbda/config/oracle_ddbda.cfg

At this point you should be able to write your RMAN scripts to direct the database backups to the Data Domain box via ddboost.
