Instructions

On installation, ECS creates accounts to allow for the initial and ongoing configuration of the product.

There are two-types of accounts:
  • Accounts allowing system access by the ECS Portal and the ECS Management REST API (user accounts).
  • Accounts allowing access to the operating system of the ECS nodes (node accounts).
User accounts:
  • Root - A preprovisioned account assigned to the System Administrator role. Upon initial use of the root account, the user is prompted to change the password and immediately log in again with the new password. Use this account for initial configuration, including setting up user accounts for your System Administrators.
  • Emcsecurity - A preprovisioned account for the Lock Administrator, the Lock Administrator is the only one who can lock and unlock a node for remote SSH access. The Lock Admin has no other privileges other than changing its password. The password should be changed after system installation and securely recorded.
  • Emcservice - A preprovisioned account for EMC service personnel to use the ECS Portal and ECS Management REST API.
  • Emcmonitor - A preprovisioned account for EMC service personnel to use the ECS Portal.
Node accounts:
  • Admin - A preprovisioned account intended for use by the ECS customer's OS-level System Administrators.
  • EMC - Reserved for ECS use only.
