OMSA: Revised PERC 10 and PERC 11 controllers require the version 10.1.0.1 patch
Summary: OpenManage Server Administrator 10.1.0 for RHEL7, RHEL8, and SLES15 requires the 10.1.0.1 patch for specific 15G, 14G Intel, and AMD PowerEdge platforms that now ship with or have parts replaced with revised PERC 10, PERC 11, and Host Bus Adapter (HBA) controllers due to supply chain issues. Since these revised controllers only support specific server models, the OMSA 10.1.0.1 patch cannot be posted to the Dell Linux repository and must be installed separately. ...
Symptoms
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) customers may notice issues with missing storage controllers and drives in OpenManage Server (OMSA) 10.1.0 after a recent 15G, 14G Intel, or AMD PowerEdge platform purchase or after certain PERC10, PERC11, or Host Bus Adapter (HBA) controllers are installed or replaced.
Cause
The OMSA 10.1.0.1 patch is necessary due to silicon revisions needed for certain controllers due to supply chain issues.
Resolution
The following are revised controllers supported on specific platforms that require installation of the OMSA 10.1.0.1 patch for RHEL:
- PERC H750 Adapter supported on PowerEdge R640, R740, R740xd, R440, R540, T440, T640, C6520, and C6525 servers.
- HBA350i Adpt is supported on PowerEdge R640, R740, R740xd, R440, R540, T440, and T640 servers.
- PERC H350 Adapter is supported on PowerEdge R640, R740, R440, R540, T440, T640, C6520, and C6525 servers.
- PERC H355 Adapter and PERC H355 Front are supported on all PowerEdge YX5X servers.
- HBA355e Adpt is supported on all PowerEdge YX4X servers and replaces all 12 Gbps Ext. SAS HBA cards
Other server models not listed such as 12G and 13G Intel PowerEdge platforms are not planned to ship or have service stock replacement of these revised controllers should not have the OMSA 10.1.0.1 patch installed. All Windows customers should upgrade to OMSA 10.2.0. SLES 15 and Ubuntu 20.04 Long-term support (LTS) customers can remain on OMSA 10.1.0.
The Dell Technologies Linux repository on linux.dell.com containing OMSA 10.1.0 for RHEL will not be revised with the OMSA 10.1.0.1 patch given the YUM install engine within RHEL cannot discern support for only the specific PowerEdge models listed above. There is no OMSA 10.2.0 release for RHEL7 and RHEL8 as the next planned RHEL consolidated release for all PowerEdge models is OMSA 10.3.0 in Q3 of 2022.
