Neural Processing Unit (NPU) acceleration features that are required for the Microsoft Copilot+ PC experience are encountering a delay with a Windows 11 24H2 update. Performance is not enhanced for the Microsoft Copilot+ PC experience. This is seen on an XPS 13 9350 with an Intel Core Ultra series 2 processor and Windows 11 24H2. Cause

The current version of the Windows 11 operating system shipped with the new XPS computers does not support NPU acceleration for Intel 256 V and 258 V processors.

Resolution

Microsoft has announced that an operating system update will be available later this year (2024). This update enables the Microsoft Copilot+ PC experience for computers using Intel 256 V and 258 V processors.

Ensure that your computer is set to automatically receive updates:

  1. Go to Settings, Update & Security, and then Windows Update.
  2. Check for updates and enable automatic updates if the setting is not already enabled.

By following these steps, you can access NPU acceleration functionalities once the Windows operating system update is released and installed.
