Symptoms

  • In NMC, the size of data cloned to tape appears incorrect
  • The original backup and the first clone to Data Domain display correct sizes in both NMC and mminfo
  • The second clone copy (DD to tape) shows:
    • Incorrect size values
    • Incorrect completion percentage

Cause

When a backup saveset spans more than one tape volume:

  • The cloning session starts with the first tape volume and then switches to the second
  • After completion:
    • The second session part reports the entire session size
    • The first session part retains a partial size
  • This duplication causes gstd to miscalculate the total size, resulting in incorrect completion percentage and size reporting in NMC

Resolution

  • This issue is tracked under Bug ID: NETWORKER-113140.
  • A fix is in the upcoming NetWorker release scheduled for the end of May 2025
  • Until the fix is applied:
    • The incorrect size/status is a display issue only; the clone data integrity is not affected
    • No manual workaround is required
