Instructions
Information:
- Avamar Grids run the SUSE Enterprise Linux as the operating system.
- DNS caching is not enabled in SUSE by default.
- Services such as
nscd, bind, unbind, dnsmasque, and other DNS caching mechanisms must be manually enabled for DNS caching.
- The
/etc/hostsfile on Avamar contains the entries for the storage nodes (internal and external IP addresses) and can serve as a caching option. Also a DNS server that is configured as caching-only would also serve this purpose.
- The /etc/nsswitch.conf is configured to check the
/etc/hostsfile before reaching out to the DNS servers defined in the/etc/resolv.conffiles.
On Avamar grids, thensswitch.conffile should be configured as below:
hosts: files dns
- The Avamar kickstart images do not contain the
nscd rpmand hence an option to manually configure one of such DNS caching daemons/services is not supported.
