Symptoms

After enabling NBD on a vProxy in a DMZ, it attempts to process some VM backups for non-DMZ DataStores, resulting in failures.

Cause

Because NBD traffic travels over the network, when other (local) vProxies are busy, NetWorker attempts to send them to idle vProxies - which may be in the DMZ and therefore not reachable.

Resolution

Configure the DMZ vProxies to ONLY accept VMs from DMZ Datastores:

In the settings for the DMZ vProxies, specify the DMZ Datastores in the 'Datastores' field. This field is used to restrict the vProxy's access to only the Datastores defined.
vProxy properties field for restricting datastore availability

NOTE: This does not support wildcards, and must be an exact match for the VMware Datastore names.
