Avamar: backup to Data Domain fails with "Calling DDR_WRITE returned result code:(5040)" due to lack of space in /ddvar

Symptoms

When Avamar tries to write backup data to Data Domain, the following message appears in the avtar backup log:

Cause

Data Domain Support identified the following error on the Data Domain:  
EVT-SPACE-00002: Core dump capability is now disabled due to lack of space in /ddvar.
 

Resolution

Engage Data Domain Support to request assistance.
