Symptoms

The array vaulted when MMCS 1 lost connection to Director 1 due to physical reseat and Director 2 was DD.

Cause

On a single engine Power 2000 Director 2 had dropped DD due to a faulty DIMM.

Field Engineer came on-site to replace the DIMM. Before logging on, the field engineer noticed that the locking mechanism on MMCS 1 was open so the field engineer tried locking the MMCS. This resulted in the MMCS losing access to the midplane and the array vaulting for 4 minutes.

Resolution

Field Engineers are not to physically move the MMCS in any until first engaging with the Remote Support to confirm there will be no issues.

If the Remote Support team do approve the action to reseat or move the MMCS, the Field Engineer must update the customer that there is an additional action required and if it is allowed under the change window.
