Below are details regarding the roles that can be assigned to users who log in to Dell Unity Unisphere (UI).
These roles are also visible while in Dell Unity Unisphere under Settings > Users and Groups > User Management.

Manage user roles. Assign the account to a role to specify the user permissions. Users can be local to the storage system or authenticated using LDAP, while user groups are only authenticated using LDAP.

1: Name = administrator
Description = User will have access to all administrative and management interfaces and data.
2: Name = storageadmin
Description = User will be able to see all storage system data and perform all storage management operations.
3: Name = operator
Description = User will be able to see all storage system data, but not perform any operations.
4: Name = securityadministrator
Description = User will only be able to perform security tasks. They will be able to see all storage system data, but not perform any operations.
5: Name = vmadmin
Description = Can only be used to establish a VASA connection from vCenter to the storage system.
- Administrator: Can view status and performance information. Can also modify all Unity settings, including configure new storage hosts and manage local user, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) user, and LDAP group accounts.
- Storage Administrator (
storageadmin): Can view status and performance information and can modify most system settings but cannot configure new storage hosts or manage local user, LDAP user, or LDAP group accounts. - Operator: Can only perform monitoring activities. Provides read-only access.
- VM Administrator (
vmadmin): Can only establish a VASA connection from the vCenter to the storage system. - Security Administrator (
securityadministrator): Can modify the security settings including domain operations but read-only access on storage system settings.
