Symptoms

The PowerStore Storage system spans the full width of the rack and requires 36 inches of rear clearance. This is needed for Node/Motherboard (Controller) or PSU extraction to service or replace internal components.

A maintenance window or downtime may be needed if the area does not allow proper clearance to extract the Node/Motherboard or PSU for troubleshooting or internal component replacement.

Customer Guidance - Preparing for Service

Before scheduling Dell Onsite Services or replacing components:

  • Verify clearance: Ensure 36 inches of space behind the PowerStore array, free of PDUs or cables, to allow safe Node extraction and avoid delays or return visits.
  • Check examples: Refer to the provided figures for guidance.
  • Plan ahead: If clearance cannot be achieved, prepare for potential downtime during service.
  • To avoid future disruption: Confirm that network and PDU cables do not obstruct Node removal.
  • Refer toDell PowerStore Installation and Service Guide for best practices.
