Steps to load Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver to install OS on NVMe memory


 

  1. Navigate to Dell Drivers and Downloads page to find and copy the x64 version of IRST driver version 17.5 or newer to USB Key.

  • Connect the OSRI (Operating System Reinstallation Image) bootable USB Key to system and initiate the OS deployment by booting from USB Key

  • On the Windows Setup page where storage drives are listing, select Load Driver.

  • Insert the second USB key in another USB port if it’s present. If another USB port is not present, remove the initial USB key and insert the second USB key in the same USB port.

  • In Load Driver window click on Browse button.

  • In Browse for Folder window, navigate to USB key and select the folder where IRST driver is available. Then click OK button.

  • In Windows Setup window, available driver file will be listed out (iaStorAC.inf). Click on Next button to install the listed driver.

  • Once driver is installed, NVMe storage will appear in drive list for OS deployment.

  • In the above screenshot, we can find the Drive 2 detection which is not there in the first screen shot.
