IDPA: How to test email connection from the Linux server
Summary: Process to test email out from Appliance Configuration Manager (ACM) or Data Protection Advisor (DPA) or any other Linux server in IDPA.

Instructions
To check and see if ACM or DPA can send out email messages, run the following process:
- Create a mail.txt file on the Linux server with the following information:
From: ACM <idpa-acm@dell.lab>
To: Lauren Drew <lauren.drew@dell.com>
Subject: Test SMTP
Date: DD MMM YYYY
Team,
This is a test of the SMTP relay.
Change From line to the correct email address and To line to the user's name and email address.
- As root, run the following command:
curl smtp://mailhub.lss.emc.com --mail-from idpa-acm@dell.lab --mail-rcpt lauren.drew@dell.com --upload-file mail.txt
Change idpa-acm@dell.lab to the correct from address and lauren.drew@dell.com to the user's email address.
The following is an example of settings and outputs that are received from a successful mail send:
linux-kqsl:~ # cat mail.txt
From: DPA server <dpalab243@dell.com>
To: Lauren Drew <lauren.drew@dell.com>
Subject: Test email
Date: Wednesday, 25 May 2021
Team,
this is a test email
linux-kqsl:~ # curl smtp://mailhub.lss.emc.com --mail-from dpalab243@dell.com --mail-rcpt lauren.drew@dell.com --upload-file mail.txt
% Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current
Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed

If this test email was received, then mail can be sent from this server.
