Instructions

Scope:

Devices discovered and inventoried in OpenManage Enterprise (OME) reflect the information available as of the last successful inventory. A newly installed DRAC license on a PowerEdge device may not reflect immediately on OME. OME plug-in licensed features are not available if OME has not detected the new capabilities of the device.

Solution:

Confirm that the DRAC has the proper license installed:

  • On a Dell iDRAC9 and later, this is seen on the iDRAC Web interface > Configuration > Licenses. Click the + sign and confirm that the proper license is installed.
  • On a Dell iDRAC8, the license is seen on the iDRAC Web interface > Overview > Server > Licenses. Click the + sign and confirm that the proper license is installed.

In the OME Web Interface, go to Device, click the Device Name > Hardware > Licenses. Confirm that the licenses match the licenses that are installed in the DRAC. If the licenses are not synchronized, the following steps allow reinventory to detect the new licenses.

Note: By default, OME runs an inventory task every 24 hours.

  1. From the OME devices page, click System > Inventory Run inventory on Device. Wait for the operation to complete.
  2. From the OME devices page, click System > Discovery > Onboarding and provide the Device Credentials. Wait for the operation to complete.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, try the following steps on one or more devices to force synchronization.

  1. From the OME devices page, click System > More Actions > Delete the Device.
  2. Reboot the iDRAC on the device.
  3. From the OME devices page, click Discovery > Discover Devices, and provide the IP and credentials for the DRAC
  4. From the OME devices page, click System and > Discovery > Onboarding and provide the Device Credentials. Wait for the operation to complete.
  5. Verify in OME that the Device View > Hardware > Licenses reflects the DRAC licenses.

A successful inventory of the device in OME extends the capabilities to OME plugins such as OMEVV.
