PowerEdge: Gathering the storage controller log from VTRX CMC

Instructions

Logs are records of events that occur on a system, either by a user or by a running process. They help track what happened and troubleshoot issues if they occur. Follow the instructions detailed in this article to obtain the RAID logs from a VRTX shared PERC.

 


When issues such as a failed Hard Disk or performance issues with the storage of a VRTX it is necessary to examine the PERC logs in order to diagnose and troubleshoot further.

To collect the TTY-log of a Shared PERC, first login to the Chassis Management Controller (CMC) web UI of the VRTX using the CMC's IP Address and follow the instructions below:

 

Note: This applies only for the PowerEdge VTRX chassis.
  1. Connect to the CMC IP Address in a web browser
  2. Under Storage on the right side menu, click Controllers
  3. On the top navigation bar, click Troubleshooting
  4. On Shared PERC8 (Integrated 1) change Action menu to Export TTY Log

    Controllers > Troubleshooting > Export TTY Log 
     
  5. Press the Apply button.

  6. Save the exported file and share with your support engineer when requested.
