PowerEdge: Intel E2100-CCQDA2 Reboot Through IMC Causes Server Reboot

Summary: If the Intel Infrastructure Processing Unit (IPU) is rebooted through the Infrastructure Management Controller (IMC), the entire server reboots.

Symptoms

If the Intel IPU is rebooted through the IMC while using the Management Interface Card (MIC), the entire server reboots.

This only occurs when accessing the IPU through the iDRAC console "connect dpu1."

Cause

The IPU attempts to reboot, but when the reset fails, the driver clears the reset state as part of its error handling. This creates an issue because the driver relies on the reset state to schedule the statistics task.

Resolution

This issue is addressed in IPU software release 1.7.0. Update to the latest version to resolve it.
