Symptoms

Manual/Push SAP HANA log backups setting retention to 02/29/52

NOTE: This affects modules and NetWorker client backups.

For Example
mminfo -avot -t today -r client,name,savetime,ssretent
Output:
client name date retent
saphana01.client.net SAPHANA:FRA_data 07/25/24 02/29/52
saphana01.client.net SAPHANA:FRA_data 07/25/24 02/29/52
saphana01.client.net SAPHANA:FRA_log 07/25/24 02/29/52

Cause

If a client resource is NOT part of a NetWorker group/workflow, the retention may be set incorrectly on a manual backup.
Also, if there are several client resources for the same host, NetWorker takes the retention from the first client entry.

Resolution

The clients must be part of a workflow for push backups to inherit the retention policy of that workflow.

This is working as designed, for push backups NetWorker takes the first client definition retention.

Alternatively editing the configuration file (for example: saphana.utl) with NSR_SAVESET_RENTENTION should correct this without amending client definitions.

Affected Products

NetWorker, NetWorker Series, NetWorker Module, NetWorker Module for Databases and Applications, NetWorker Module for SAP
