PowerEdge: iDRAC Service Module 4.0.1 and earlier for ESXi: Intermittent service stoppage if ESXi hostd service is restarted

Symptoms
iDRAC Service Module (iSM) versions 4.0.1 and earlier for VMware ESXi may stop functioning and the dcism service stop if the core hostd service of the ESXi host was recently restarted.
Cause
This only occurs if the core hostd service is restarted around the 120 s interval when the iSM service checks if its virtual switch is running which requires that the hostd service also be running.
Resolution
The dcism service of iSM 3.x and 4.0.1 must be manually restarted with this shell command run on the ESXi host:

/etc/init.d/dcism-netmon-watchdog restart
