Instructions
Procedure to create SNMP Monitoring from Web Administrator Guide:
Steps required to make SNMP alerts work:
- Click Cluster Management > General Settings > SNMP Monitoring.
- In the SNMP Service Settings, click the Enable SNMP Service check box.
- Download the Management Information Base (MIB) file that you want to use (base or trap). Follow the download process that is specific to your browser.
- Copy the MIB files to a directory where your SNMP tool can find them, such as
/usr/share/snmp/mibs/.
To have Net-SNMP tools read the MIB to provide automatic name-to-OID mapping, add '-m All' to the command, as in the following example:
snmpwalk -v2c -c public -m All isilon
- If your protocol is SNMPv2, ensure that the Allow SNMPv2 Access check box is selected.
- In the SNMPv2 Read-Only Community Name field, enter the appropriate community name. The default is
I$ilonpublic. - To enable SNMPv3, click the Allow SNMPv3 Access check box.
- Configure SNMP v3 Settings:
- In the SNMPv3 Read-Only User Name field, type the SNMPv3 security name to change the name of the user with read-only privileges. The default read-only user is general.
- In the SNMPv3 Read-Only Password field, type the new password for the read-only user to set a new SNMPv3 authentication password. The default password is password. It is recommended that you change the password to improve security. The password must contain at least eight characters and no spaces.
- Confirm the new password.
- In the SNMP Reporting area, enter a cluster description in the Cluster Description field.
- In the System Contact Email field, enter the contact email address.
- Click Save Changes.
Steps required to make SNMP alerts work:
On the CLI of the cluster
- List out all event channel names:
# isi event channels list
