Symptoms
When the following flags are not set, replication traffic flows through nonreplication pool in some instances causing congestion and performance issues.
Force Interface: No Restrict Target Network: No
Cause
By default, default route on the routing table is used to determine the interface which traffic ORIGINATEs from.
When the two flags "Force Interface" and "Restrict Target Network" are not set, a routing table is used and traffic is seen on a nonreplication network pool.
When the two flags "Force Interface" and "Restrict Target Network" are not set, a routing table is used and traffic is seen on a nonreplication network pool.
Resolution
ACTION PLAN:
- Identify the policy to be modified and review whether the options are set correctly.
# isi sync policies view --policy=test | egrep 'Name:|Subnet|Pool|Force|Target:|Restrict'
Example:
Isilon02-3# isi sync policies view --policy=test | egrep 'Name:|Target:|Subnet|Pool|Force|Restrict'
Name: test
Target: target1.local
Source Subnet: Subnet1
Source Pool: Replication
Force Interface: No
Restrict Target Network: No
- Set the flags to restrict traffic to the correct source and target networks and verify the change.
# isi sync policies modify test --force-interface=yes --restrict-target-network=yes # isi sync policies view --policy=test | egrep 'Name:|Subnet|Pool|Force|Target:|Restrict'
Example:
Isilon02-3# isi sync policies modify test --force_interface=yes --restrict-target-network=yes
Isilon02-3# isi sync policies view --policy=test | egrep 'Name:|Subnet|Pool|Force|Target:|Restrict'
Name: test
Target: target1.local
Source Subnet: Subnet1
Source Pool: Replication
Force Interface: Yes
Restrict Target Network: YesAffected Products
