Summary: The following article provides information about why the Dell C8621QT monitor cannot be powered on using the Dell Web Management or Crestron over a network cable. This is when the monitor has been fully powered off using the remote controller or monitor power button. ...
Symptoms
You cannot power on the C8621QT monitor using the network when it is fully powered off
The monitor cannot be powered on using the Dell Web Management or Crestron over your network. This is after you have powered off using the remote control or the monitor's power button.
The Dell C8621QT is part of a series of touch screen monitors that comes with:
- A couple of styluses
- A remote control unit
- Multiple display inputs
- USB downstream cable
- Speakers
- A Local Area Network (LAN) connector
Dell Web Management uses the networking capability on these monitors to let you remotely access and change settings such as:
- Input Source Selection
- Brightness
- Volume
Before accessing the Dell Monitor Web Management feature, ensure that:
- You have a working Ethernet cable that is connected to the RJ45 port at the rear of the monitor.
- The monitor is powered on or in suspend.

Cause
When you fully power off the monitor using the power button or remote control, you power off the network connector.
This drops the monitor from your network. It does this to reduce the power consumption of your device.
Resolution
If you power off using the remote control or the power button, it fully powers off the monitor.
This removes the power to run things such as the network port, and the USB hub.
It was designed this way to meet a power consumption target of less than 0.3 W.
If you intend to remotely control the monitor over the network (for example to power on or off). You should not put the monitor in a Direct Current (DC) off state. (By powering off by the remote control or by the monitor’s power button.)
If so, you should follow the instruction in the user guide:
- Lock the monitor’s power button.
- Secure the remote control so it cannot be used.
This ensures that the monitor is never left in a DC off state. It is now controllable by the web management or Crestron over your network.
The monitor’s panel and backlight turn off automatically and go into suspend if the monitor is powered off using the Dell Web Management utility.
