PowerEdge: Updating drivers on ESXi hosts

Instructions

Prerequisites

  1. Putty or other SSH Client.
  2. WinSCP for copying the driver files to tmp directory.
  3. If the ESXi host has the local data store, then copy the driver to the local data store.


Before stating the update, once the driver file is copied to a local data store or /tmp(using WINSCP verify whether the file is visible by going into that directory in putty.

/temp/driver ls 
Extract the driver file and Use the offline_bundle file for updating the driver.
offline_bundle 
Once the driver update is completed, check if a host reboot is required. If a reboot is required, in the output below, the reboot required shows as true.
Otherwise, it shows as false.


vib install -d
