Symptoms
Issue
The FTP daemon, vsftpd defaults to trying to get the client to use PASV mode. Even if the client forces an active mode FTP transfer, it assigns random ephemeral ports on the POST command. This will not work if there is a firewall in front of the cluster.
This also occurs when using Cisco WAAS or other devices that do TCP acceleration.
Cause
This also occurs when using Cisco WAAS or other devices that do TCP acceleration.
Resolution
Solution
- Open the
/etc/mcp/templates/vsftpd.conffile in a text editor. - Search for the
"connect_from_port_20"directive and uncomment it. - In the
"connect_from_port_20"directive, change the value to YES. - Save and close the file.
- Run the following commands from the command line:
isi services vsftpd disable
isi services vsftpd enable
The FTP daemon now uses port 20 for data transfers.
