Symptoms
The following error occurs when running Dell System Update (DSU) 2.x on VMware ESXi on a 13th-generation server:
Reading the catalog ... Initiating connection to iDRAC Unknown error occurred
Cause
DSU on ESXi must use --use-idrac-passthrough option but iDRAC8 controllers within 13G and older servers due not support the necessary passthrough features.
Resolution
DSU for ESXi does not support 13th-generation or older server platforms.
Dell Engineering will improve this error handling and clarify documentation in a future DSU release.
