Symptoms

DP may enter a rolling panic following modification of a DataDomain remote system from within the PowerStore GUI.

Cause

If there are over 1024 backups on a DataDomain, it will cause this DP panic because the current implementation of DP assumes no more than 1024 items should be included which is not reasonable.

Resolution

Short term:

Disable communication to the DataDomain(s) via the network or shut them down temporarily or reduce the number of backups on the DataDomain.

Medium term:

Reduce the number of backups on the DataDomain appliance.

Long term:

Upgrade PowerStore code to 3.6.1.4-2413340  or above.
