Instructions
vCenter entries in VMware View are called NSR Hypervisor resources in the NetWorker server nsrdb. In order to remove the vCenter entry, you must manually edit the NetWorker server nsrdb while services are offline. No activity can be taking place on the NetWorker server when services are stopped.
CAUTION: Only remove a vCenter from NetWorker if there are no VM backups from the vCenter remaining in NetWorker. If you remove the vCenter resource while valid backups remain, you cannot recover VM backups until you add vCenter back to NetWorker. vCenter does not have to be online to recover VMs to a new vCenter. NetWorker still requires the vCenter resource to identify source backups. If the vCenter has no backups, or the backups are no longer needed, proceed with this article.
- Validate there is a recent successful bootstrap backup of the NetWorker server.
mminfo -B
- Stop NetWorker server services.
Linux: systemctl stop networker
Windows: net stop nsrexecd /y
- Validate NetWorker server services are stopped.
Linux: ps -ef | grep nsr
Windows: tasklist | findstr nsr
- Make a backup copy of the NetWorker server
nsrdbby zipping or copying the folder.
Linux: The default location of the nsrdb is /nsr/res/nsrdb
Windows: The default location of the nsrdb is %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\res\nsrdb
- Delete vCenter/NSR Hypervisor resource (in this example:
vc1.testlab.dellemc.com)
C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\res>nsradmin -d nsrdb NetWorker administration program. Use the "help" command for help, "visual" for full-screen mode. nsradmin> show name nsradmin> p type: nsr hypervisor name: vc2.testlab.dellemc.com; name: vc1.testlab.dellemc.com; nsradmin> p type: nsr hypervisor; name: vc1.testlab.dellemc.com name: vc1.testlab.dellemc.com; nsradmin> delete name: vc1.testlab.dellemc.com; Delete? yes deleted resource id 35.0.216.9.0.0.0.0.46.26.79.83.0.0.0.0.169.254.222.186(2025) nsradmin> p type: nsr hypervisor name: vc2.testlab.dellemc.com; nsradmin> quit
- Start NetWorker server services and allow 3-5 minutes for services to reinitialize before starting NMC to validate the change.
Linux:systemctl start networker
Windows: net start nsrd
On windows hosts, if the NMC is installed on the NetWorker server, you must start the NMC service with: net start gstd.
