DLm0642E: Internal Error: cannot get buffer from DevBuf pool: delay (running 5.4.x)
Summary: Numerous DLm0642E messages during DLm ERASE activity at DLm code level 5.4.0.0 may cause threads to stop responding, requiring a restart of the Virtuent application. Issue is fixed in DLm 5.4.0.1 and later code. ...

Cause
A code issue was introduced in DLm 5.4.0.0 release which may cause a delay with device buffer release after use during scratching or ERASE processing.
This is a buffer starvation issue where the buffer pool gets depleted during heavy scratching or erasing, which causes cascading delays when other threads trying to get a buffer have to wait.
This is a buffer starvation issue where the buffer pool gets depleted during heavy scratching or erasing, which causes cascading delays when other threads trying to get a buffer have to wait.
Resolution
Customer should take immediate remediation by restarting the Virtuent application, or rebooting the VTE.
This issue is addressed in DLm 5.4.0.1 and later code.
