How to Uninstall PowerPath and configure Microsoft MPIO

Uninstalling PowerPath:

See the PowerPath and PowerPath-VE Family for Windows 8.0 and Minor Releases Installation and Administration Guide chapter 5 on how to remove PowerPath.

Note: This is an offline procedure as it requires at least one reboot.

If error "Migration(s) is (are) pending. Cannot uninstall" occurs during the uninstall, see Dell KB 000183888 And try again.

If any other errors occur when uninstalling PowerPath, open a case with Dell. We need the error, the version of PowerPath and the version of Windows. We may also need a Grab for Windows.

Additional Information

Note that any feature that relies on PowerPath will no longer be available.after PowerPath has been uninstalled
  • Load balancing for SRDF/Metro or VPLEX Metro optimal/non-optimal paths currently is not available in native MPIO
  • PowerPath Migration enabler will not be available
  • PowerPath remote component will not be available
  • Information gathered either by Unisphere or PowerPath Management Appliance concerning PowerPath will no longer be available.
