Symptomen

Using Solutions Enabler symauth command to assign a user of a group for a Storage Group with the command:

assign user <user> to role StorageAdmin for StorGrp <sg>;

or

assign group <group> to role StorageAdmin for StorGrp <sg>;

fails with:

One or more arguments are invalid
in symapi.log
EMC:SYMAUTH                SymAuthzRuleUpdate   Role <Unknown> within authorization rule cannot be applied against a StorGrp Component

Oorzaak

From Dell Solutions Enabler CLI Reference Guide:

Only the LocalRep, RemoteRep, and DeviceManage roles can be assigned to Storage Groups.

Role StorageAdmin can only be assigned for the entire Array.

Oplossing

Assign one or a combination of roles LocalRep, RemoteRep, and DeviceManage to a Storage Group, for example:

assign user <user> to role LocalRep+RemoteRep for StorGrp <sg>;
